CEREMONY/RECEPTION THEMES

Deciding on your wedding theme can be one of the most daunting things you have to do, as this is often the first thing a bride must decide on. For some people this is simple, you have always known what your big day is going to look like, what song you are going to dance your first dance to, who is going to be there and what dress and shoes you are going to where for both the ceremony and reception. (and yes most brides have two outfits, two sets of accessories, so on…) To you, the confident brides I salute.

For the rest of us, the girls who didn’t think about it until it was on top of you, or those who always had a good idea but now have major budgetary issues (due to circumstance or choice). Hopefully I can help as I wander through this choice myself. There are so many wonderful images and blogs out there that it is easy to become overwhelmed. So, I present to you a few things to keep in mind.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN SELECTING THE THEME FOR YOUR WEDDING

1) DON’T WORRY ABOUT BUDGET!! (Most things you see in magazines and blogs you can do yourself)

2) MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR BETTER HALF!! (When your day comes you want to make sure that your FI doesn’t feel left out, after all it’s their day too.)

3) DON’T WORRY ABOUT MIXING THEMES! ( A lantern from a country chic wedding will fit into a rustic vintage theme just fine if you really love that lantern. And it’s okay to have one theme for your ceremony and one for your reception, after all it is two separate events.)

4) FALL IN LOVE WITH THE LITTLE THINGS. (This is a day you will remember for the rest of your life and if you love paper hearts and cupcake flags find a way to incorporate that, just love what you surround yourself with.)

5) DON’T FRET OVER IT. ( It can seem overwhelming but there is no set way you have to do this, a theme or feel is just a background to what everyone is there for-TO SEE TWO PEOPLE THEY LOVE BE HAPPY.)
